We’re encouraging our members and all recfishers to sign an e-petition that has been started by Mitcham Angling Club to introduce recreational fishing at Blackburn Lake.

The City of Whitehorse currently has no opportunities for recreational fishing, in fact, it’s prohibited in their by-laws. Recfishers in the area have to travel outside of the municipality to wet a line.

Only 4km from the Mitcham Angling Club is Blackburn Lake which would be a great lake for the club, and local recfishers, to go fishing. While the lake is currently filled with carp, there are numerous community stakeholders who would like to see the carp removed and native fish stocked to create a great family-friendly recreational fishing lake.

More information about the proposal can be found below along with a link to the e-petition.

E-PETITION | RECREATIONAL FISHING AT BLACKBURN LAKE
