Southern Rural Water Recreational Area Management Plans

Southern Rural Water is responsible for seven storages in southern Victoria.

Southern Rural Water have released six draft recreational area management plans for public consultation.

A Recreational Area Management Plan (RAMP) is a comprehensive document designed to manage and support the sustainable use and protection of water resources at a water storage that’s used for recreation.

Throughout 2025, Southern Rural Water have engaged with government agencies and Traditional Owners to help inform the six draft RAMPs. Now, they’re asking the community to complete an online survey to help SRW to further refine the plans and understand visitor priorities, recreational needs, facilities requirements and your future aspirations for the recreational areas.

The draft RAMP’s have been developed for the following water storages: Lake Glenmaggie, Blue Rock Lake, Cowwarr Weir, Pykes Creek Reservoir, Melton Reservoir, and Merrimu Reservoir.

Public consultation will run between 3 November 2025 and 9 February 2026.
