For over a century, coal companies have used the water from the Latrobe River system to power Victoria, often without paying for the water they’ve used.

AGL has applied for a new bulk water entitlement to fill its mine pit and we believe this is a threat to regional water security, ecological health, the long term health of the Gippsland Lakes and all those whose livelihoods depend upon the waters.
Here’s where you come in: right now, the Victorian Government is inviting public submissions on AGL’s application.

This is our opportunity to demand that our water is properly valued, and that any access by mining companies includes fair payment and investment back into the health of our rivers.

Join us for a free webinar that will step you through what’s at stake and how to write a powerful submission so you can stand up for justice for our rivers and the health of our land.

Fishing clubs provide recreational fishers with the opportunity to come together, learn, socialise and enjoy some friendly competition.

They’re also the backbone of many local and regional projects and generously give their time back to the sport they love. They regularly host a range of events to drive an increase in fishing participation. From sharing knowledge to fostering a sense of community, fishing clubs have a positive impact on our sector.

The Victorian Fisheries Authority have once again

The Victorian Fisheries Authority have once again stocked 10 million fish into Victorian waterways over the latest stocking season.

The 2024/25 stocking season saw more than 4-million Murray cod and 3-million golden perch stocked into Victoria’s lakes and rivers. More than 1 and a half million trout and salmonids were stocked. Silver perch (780,770), Australian bass (137,500), estuary perch (133,500), Macquarie perch (99,890), dusky flathead (62,340) and trout cod (140,970) were also a part of the 10 million fish stocked across the state.

After declaring Gippsland as Australia’s first offshore wind farm zone, the Australian Government has granted 12 feasibility licences for offshore wind projects off Gippsland’s coast.

To engage with the Gippsland community, the Gippsland feasibility licence holders are working together to deliver a round of joint community engagement events in Toora, Loch Sport and Woodside during July.
