Regional Vic Fishing Expo heads to Geelong

The Regional Vic Fishing Expo is hosting a one-day indoor expo at Geelong’s Leisuretime Sports Precinct on Saturday 16 August.

Showcasing Australian lure makers as well as custom-made fishing rods, the Regional Vic Fishing Expo highlights specialised freshwater and saltwater gear from small businesses that you generally won’t see at the big tackle shops. Some of the businesses include Carman’s Soft Plastics, Loona Lures, Dino Lures, Decal Evolution, Noojee Bush Goods, Pimped Up Lures, Troutlore and more.

Beyond the fishing gear and products, there will be a range of other organisations from within the recreational fishing industry, including VRFish, OzFish Unlimited, Leopold Angling and Aquatic Club, Central Vic Lure Casters, Didyabringyarodalong Angling Club, Veterans for Fishing, Mending Casts and Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating network representatives, to name a few.

VRFish will be running our popular lure learning clinics where recfishers will be able to paint lures, participate in casting clinics and have a chat with us about what we’re up to making fishing better for Victoria.

OzFish Unlimited will have a hands-on display of water bugs that you might find in our waterways. For those who are unfamiliar with OzFish, the organisation is dedicated to empowering and supporting recreational anglers and their communities to take control of the health of their rivers, lakes and estuaries.

Leopold Angling and Aquatic Club will have their fishing stimulator set-up and if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to catch a Marlin or big SBT, it’s a must-try! Other fishing clubs that will also be in attendance include Central Vic Lure Casters and Didyabringyarodalong Angling Club.

Run by veteran volunteers, Veterans for Fishing (VFF) will also be exhibiting. VFF uses angling to provide veterans with a supportive community that enhances their mental health, while also building lasting connections and creating meaningful experiences. Their goal is to foster mental well-being, camaraderie, and healing.

Mending Casts provides free retreats to people affected by cancer through licensed Reel Recovery and Casting For Recovery programs. These unique retreats combine the health and well-being benefits of fly-fishing and connecting with nature, with relief from personal challenges, and an opportunity to share experiences with others in a supportive, non-clinical environment. In 2024, they commenced a new retreat program to support women with any cancer.

Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating (WIRFAB) representatives will also be in attendance.
