Established as the Victorian Recreational Fishing Peak Body, VRFish, is your independent voice representing Victoria’s recreational fishing since 1995.
VRFish is proud to release the 2024-25 Annual Report which shares our annual highlights and achievements as we celebrated 30 years of VRFish advocacy and continued working to make fishing better in Victoria.
In our Annual Report, VRFish Chair Rob Loats and interim Executive Officer and Board member Scott Jefferis reflected on the past year through sharing insights on the progress of the organisation, our achievements and advocacy efforts and sincerely thanking our members and recreational fishers for their continued support.
VRFish delegates from Foundation Member clubs and associations (including Albert Park Yachting & Angling Club, Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron, Ballarat Fly Fishers Club, and Midland and North Central Angling Association) contributed member reports to showcase the fantastic work fishing clubs are contributing to their local communities and the recreational fishing sector as a whole.
For 30 years, VRFish has been advocating for Victoria’s recreational fishing to ensure the views of recreational fishers are strongly represented and our work is centred around making fishing better, for everyone.
Over three decades, we’ve achieved fantastic wins for Victoria’s recreational fishers such as advocating for recreational and environmental water allocations, supporting projects that improve fish habitats in our waterways, advocated for a purpose-built Native Fish Hatchery in Northern Victoria, campaigns to improve on-water access and once-in-a-generation boating reforms, to name a few.
As part of our 30-year celebration, VRFish recognised eight outstanding volunteers with
Lifetime Achievement Awards, honouring over 200 collective years of volunteer service to recreational fishing in Victoria.
Our 2024-25 Annual Report also promotes our achievements and highlights from the past year under each of our advocacy pillars, the results from our fisher priorities survey, and so much more.
