Vale Franz Grasser

It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of VRFish board member, Franz Grasser.

For nearly 30 years, Franz was actively engaged with the recreational fishing community in the Patterson Lakes area.

As a VRFish State Council member (2004), Director (appointed 2005) and an uncompromising advocate for recreational fishing and boating, recreational fishing in Victoria was made better through Franz’ thousands of hours of voluntary service. We will dearly miss you mate!

Franz was a snapper assassin who was just as happy trolling at the mouth of the Patto for Aussie Salmon to smoke, and VRFish Board meetings will not be the same without us snacking on one of his delectable smoked fish offerings.

Franz honed his fishing skills as a kid growing up chasing Eels and Blackfish in the Diamond Creek,  and in later life, there were few species he couldn’t catch. An outdoorsman, hunter and fisher of repute, Franz handed this legacy down to his three children and them through to theirs.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Deb, Lisa, Scott, Dean and family and friends.
