Applauds Stronger Fishing Clubs Grants

The Victorian Recreational Fishing Peak Body (VRFish) has applauded the Andrews Labor government support for recreational fishing clubs, a key plank of the VRFish 2022 State election policy.

The Stronger Fishing Clubs Grants Program enables Victorian angling clubs and associations to easily apply for grants of up to $10,000 online. The $1.2 million program will be available to help strengthen and increase club membership and promote participation in recreational fishing throughout Victoria.

VRFish Chair Rob Loats is excited by the funding announcement. ‘Recreational fishing club sustainability is very important to both VRFish and recreational fishing. Our local fishing clubs and associations deliver important community services such as social connection and health and wellbeing benefits and most recreational fishing leaders emerge from organised recreational fishing.’
