Partial closure of Portarlington Breakwater

If you go fishing along the Portarlington breakwater, there are currently changes to access along the northern-arm of the breakwater.

Following a recent inspection, Parks Victoria have closed a 200 metre section of the Portarlington breakwater due to safety concerns. Structural issues were identified in the outer section, due to movement from the underlying rocks. As it’s currently unsafe for public use, they’ve begun planning for repairs while the area is closed. A timeline for repairs hasn’t been finalised.

So, what does this mean for fishing? You’re still able to go fishing on the open section of the breakwater and Portarlington Pier is also open.
