Parks Victoria is developing a new plan for St Leonards Pier and the adjoining waters managed by Parks Victoria.
The St Leonards Local Port Area Plan will draw from the current understanding of the site, as well as ideas and aspirations generated from community feedback and set out a strategic direction ensuring it continues to be a thriving maritime asset for many more years to come.
The plan will set out the priorities to ensure St Leonards Pier continues to be safe and a thriving recreational activity destination for the Bellarine Peninsula.
The draft plan proposes two design options, both include:
- A rebuild of St Leonards Pier
- Pier design to accommodate the impacts of climate change and sea level rise
- Short-term low landing berthing for vessels up to 12 metres in length
- Separation of recreational activities
- Compliance with DDA regulations with ramped access to low landings – no stairs
- Low landing access to water for diving and snorkelling
- Channels and fairways to meet requirements of AS3963 (2020)
- Retain Sirens Boathouse
Parks Victoria are calling on the community to have their say via an online survey.
Public consultation closes 27 April 2024.
It’s expected that the final plan will be published in Autumn 2024.
