VRFish, the peak body representing recreational fishing in Victoria, is embarking on an exciting new chapter. With a refreshed brand, a new home in Geelong and an inclusive mission statement about improving the fishing ‘experience’ for all Victorians, fishers can expect to see their peak body become more innovative than ever before in 2018.
Recreational fishers have been reaching out to us wanting VRFish to become more involved and support a number of state, regional and local issues that are important to them and their fishing,
We have begun consultation with our members on a new governance model and inclusive membership structure and have recently released the results from a comprehensive priority setting survey of nearly 1,900 recreational fishers.
These results are being used to inform VRFish operations, apply for additional resources and provide advice back to Government regarding recreational fishers priorities. The identified priorities include improving fish habitat and engaging with fishers on responsible and best practice fishing.
VRFish launched a new website on the March 28 and has employed a part-time Communications Officer to support enhanced engagement with our passionate Victorian fishing community.
