Westernport Water have informed us of changes to navigation in Westernport Bay under the San Remo Bridge, while water and wastewater pipeline refurbishment works are occurring underneath the bridge.
The works will be undertaken via a scaffold system secured from the bridge structure. The scaffold will temporarily reduce the air draught under the bridge by approximately 2.5 metres.
They’ve noted that some recreational boaters have been travelling underneath bridge spans that are currently scaffolded and ask us to remind boaters not to travel under the scaffold due to safety concerns.
Parks Victoria have published a Notice to Mariners to ensure boaters are aware of changes to navigation and navigate the area safely.
Key information
- Vessels must never travel under the scaffold.
- Vessels must navigate through the central span of the bridge that’s identified with green and red navigational markers on the bridge, currently this is span 11, (air draft of 11.3m) and will be until early/mid-September.
