North East Regional Waterway Strategy

The North East Regional Waterway Strategy is being renewed and will guide investment in waterway management for the next 10 years across the North East catchment.

According to North East CMA, North East Victoria is a diverse geographic region encompassing the alpine ranges of the Great Dividing Range, the fertile Ovens and King River valleys, and the floodplains along the Murray River, stretching from the Victorian Alps in the south to the New South Wales border in the north. The area comprises approximately 2% of the geographic area of the Murray-Darling Basin, yet the region’s water resources contribute around 40% of the water in the Murray-Darling Basin system.

As part of the consultation process, North East CMA are hosting community engagement sessions throughout August and September.

If you missed the information sessions, you can provide feedback to the North East CMA via an online survey. The online survey will be open for your feedback until 30 November 2025.
